On New Year’s Day, the Prime Minister awarded the Run for Love Team a “Points of Light” award in acknowledgment of their inspiring voluntary work, coordinating and completing Run for Love II.
The event saw 1,000 volunteers supporting over 250 participants running or cycling 2,000km in 14 days from Sarajevo to London, raising £90,000. The funds raised for the Foundation have been donated to the charity ‘Unseen’ for their modern slavery helpline and project providing rehabilitation for victims of modern slavery.
In a personal letter to the team, Prime Minister Theresa May said:
“Through your organisation ‘Run for Love,’ you have shown tremendous dedication in helping to end the abhorrent crime of modern slavery, by organising and participating in charity endurance marathons. The money you have helped to raise through these events is a remarkable achievement and you should be enormously proud of raising awareness of this vital cause.”
As the first Points of Light for 2018, the award is a fantastic start to the New Year and a wonderful reflection of our work in 2017. Massive thanks and congratulations to everyone involved! What an awesome team!
